What just happened (read it after the experiment)
On February 14, 1990, at Carl Sagan’s request, the Voyager 1 probe turned around one last time and photographed Earth from 3.7 billion miles (6 billion kilometers) away. Our planet takes up 0.12 of a pixel.
“Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us,” Sagan would write in Pale Blue Dot (1994).
The rays crossing the image are reflections of sunlight inside the camera’s optics: Earth happens to float in one of them.
